Matt Smith Makes Investment in PBL's Future

In January 2008, Matt Smith decided to make a $1,000 investment in the Williams Phi Bet Lambda student organization.  Matt was recently hired by Universal Asset Management, Inc (UAM) of Memphis, Tennessee as a Project Manager.  Matt was asked why he decided to donate to Williams PBL organization and he sent his thoughts in an email:

"PBL allowed me to make new friends, travel to various cities/states, and apply what I have been taught in the classroom. Because of this, it has been a great way to network with other people and companies. I donated money in the hopes of allowing this organization to continue on for upcoming students so that they might also have the chance to experience what I have with PBL. Lastly, I wanted to show my appreciation to the professors involved in the business department who have somehow managed to make it through the last 4 years with me in their classes. The professors have always been there for me throughout my 4 years at Williams, and I am grateful for all the help and guidance they have given me."

Through Matt’s generosity, the Williams PBL organization will compete in Hot Springs on April 21-22, 2008 for the opportunity to compete at the National PBL Leadership Conference.  The 2008 National PBL Leadership Conference is June 21-24 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Business Department wholeheartedly appreciates Matt’s generous donation.  If you would like to make a donation to Williams PBL, please contact Summer DeProw at sdeprow@wbcoll.edu or 870.759.4147.
